WE MAKE DENTAL CARE FUN AND HEALTHY
Dental Care for Kids
An important constituent of Family Dentistry for any dental facility is ensuring the comfort of their patients. This is doubly so for the younger patients who usually associate a visit to the dentist with pain. Alison B. Lubyansky DDS have staff members trained to change that perception and get your kids excited about their dental health!
Experts recommend that dental health should be given importance from an early age. We recommend that our patients bring in their children for regular dental check-ups after their first birthday. Under our gentle care, your child will benefit from healthy primary teeth. We will also inculcate the habit of proper oral hygiene in them. Your children won’t have to worry about tooth decay and cavities once their new teeth have come in.

Importance of Regular Checkups
We always recommend regular checkups for routine care to our patients, no matter what age they are! For kids, these visits are even more essential since many of them have a sweet tooth. Any leftover sugar from the candy your kids consume is converted to acid, which will speed up tooth decay.
Even if you ensure that your child doesn’t eat too many sugary treats, you should still consider bringing them in regularly. Forgetting to brush their teeth or floss can lead to more serious dental issues.
We’d suggest that your child visit us after every six months. During the visit, we will examine the state of their dental health and perform dental cleaning. Fluoride treatment, for instance, strengthens children’s teeth, which is why they should get it done twice annually. Grooves may naturally form between your child’s teeth. If left unchecked, they can cause tooth decay. We use a sealant to fill up the space, and the effects of this treatment can last for two or more years.
The First Visit
We have two main objectives when you bring your child for their very first dental visit. Firstly, we want to make sure that the child has a positive experience. It can help make future visits less stressful for them.
Secondly, we start maintaining dental records during the visit. Having all the details allows us to see the complete picture during subsequent visits. We start by asking you to fill in a medical history form. Your child’s treatment plan will be based on the information in the form. Next, we will conduct a check-up to familiarize ourselves with the child's teeth, oral tissues, and gums. After that, if needed, we will do x-rays to examine your child’s bite. The combined results of the tests are used to suggest a preferable solution.
Primary Teeth Care
Your child starts with a set of primary teeth. Even though those teeth will be replaced eventually by the permanent ones, primary teeth are important. They:
- Make correct placement of the permanent teeth possible
- Ensure that your child is able to continue eating a healthy, varied diet
- Have an important role in proper speech development
- Boost your child’s self-esteem
Premature loss of baby teeth may increase the risk of your child developing gum disease. Losing their primary teeth can also create bite problems for children when their permanent set comes in.
